Actos de habla directos e indirectos: el caso de la pregunta

This paper stands on the hypothesis that the direct and indirect speech acts are not disjoint classes but parts of a continuum, responding to a certain configuration. With the aim of developing that proposal, we analyze the case of the question in French. We start from the existence of three different typical poles: assertion, question and order, among which it appears a gradation formed by cases in which the illocution has to be derived. The scale is organized on eight parameters which show different incidence on each subgroup.
