Suprasegmental features of attenuated speech acts from a sample of utterances in real communicative situations are described. Our main interest was to determine in what way the attenuation is manifested in the melodic contour, mainly in the evolution of the body of the melodic curve and in relation to parameters such as duration and pitch.
By means of a spectrographic analysis of the sample we have determined that it is mainly tone variations that characterize the phonetic behavior of attenuated utterances
