This study intends to show the lines of agreement –rather than the differences– between the testimonies of Aristophanes and Plato concerning the re- presentation of the character Socrates in Aristophanes’ comedy Clouds. From the perspective of the historical view of Socrates, it seems possible to state that there are a number of common features between Plato’s view of Socrates and the character in Aristophanes. This study centers on the theme of education and on the impact of Socrates’s personality in it, as portrayed by both.
